Scottish Careers Week at LINIAN – Carys Roebuck

Scottish Careers Week at LINIAN – Carys Roebuck

It's Scottish Careers Week, 7-11th November 2022. To celebrate this week, we would like to highlight the achievements of LINIAN's youngest team member, Carys Roebuck.

Carys was LINIAN's first-ever apprentice, joining the LINIAN team as an Admin Apprentice, in 2021, at just 16 years of age. She has successfully completed her QA apprenticeship, and we are delighted to announce that Carys will officially join the Sales team in a newly created Junior Internal Sales position at LINIAN HQ, Glasgow.

Carys describes her experience at LINIAN,

"I joined LINIAN as an Admin Apprentice when I was 16 years old.

It was my first job, and it was strange being around so many knowledgeable and mature adults in an office, but they made me feel comfortable growing in the company.

During the apprenticeship, I had to complete assignments alongside office tasks, but I preferred practical on-the-job learning. I enjoyed working with the team, and I think it's a good learning environment as the team support you in growing. I worked alongside the sales team, which sparked my interest in sales. Now that I've just finished my apprenticeship, I am moving into a Junior Sales position.

I'm looking forward to seeing where the new role takes me."

During her apprenticeship, Carys completed modules in word processing, digital communications, Health and safety, IT systems, personal and team effectiveness, presentations, spreadsheets and more. Her studies were complemented by on-the-job training, working closely with the sales team. Over the past year, she has grown in confidence, showing natural aptitude and interest in sales. She is outspoken and naturally curious, rising to any challenge that comes her way. She gave a presentation to the board of directors in her first month! The Junior Sales position is a natural fit for the next stage in her career.

Carys's manager, Jamie Kirk, Internal Sales Manager, states,

"I am really proud to have worked with Carys as she progressed through her apprenticeship and has now successfully moved into her new role within the LINIAN sales team… Let's see if she's as good as she says she is!"

We are incredibly proud of everything Carys has achieved so far and have no doubt she will continue to excel in the new role.

Cary's mentor throughout the apprenticeship was Lynne Jhangeer, Global Commercial Director. Lynne also commented,

"Everyone must consider themselves a positive and patient mentor, role model and coach in every job description across any business; no matter the title or perceived level, everyone can play their part in developing talent. It is where we can make big wins and a huge difference to our business and industry daily. Carys made an easy decision to offer a full-time role with LINIAN, and all credit goes to her for absolutely nailing it. I really wish her a successful career here. It's also great to see another woman entering STEM & the Electrotechnical sector – as an ambassador myself, I hope to see Carys playing her part in showing how great this industry can be for us all".

Congratulations and welcome to the sales team, Carys!
