Made in Britain: Supporting UK manufacturing
December 2020
2020 has proved to be a challenging year for all of us with the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, and now the uncertainty of Brexit just around the corner. At LINIAN, we are incredibly proud of our Made in Britain status, and, we believe that in the face of current challenges, there has never been a more important time to work together, buy local, and support UK companies. That’s why and we would like to take a moment to explain what ‘Made in Britain’ membership means for us and highlight some of the other great UK companies in the Made in Britain network.
LINIAN is a Glasgow based company, and all our products are designed and manufactured here in the UK using the best quality materials, providing local employment opportunities, and supporting the British manufacturing industry.
Like many other businesses, we have had to adapt to these unprecedented times. In the last 9 months, while most of our team have been working from home, we have launched several new products including Coaxial Clip and the Earth Rod Pro – an innovative new product for rapid earth rod installation. We’re currently preparing for the launch of our next new product in January 2021. We have also had to rapidly adapt our business model this year.
An important change we have made is the launch of an online shop. At LINIAN, we are proud to support our network of approved stockists and to ensure that we continuously drive trade to the wholesale counter. However, we recognise that in this changing global climate, more and more people are choosing to do business online so, we decided to provide a streamlined online sales platform to make it faster, safer and simpler for everyone to access our products. With our online shop, online stockists, and network of wholesaler stockists, it has never been easier to access our products.
One of the key factors that have helped us through this difficult year, is our robust UK supply chain. By working with other UK suppliers, we maintained our high stock levels, and we were able to continue to supply our products (with next day delivery) to key infrastructure projects throughout the pandemic. We are confident that we will be able to avoid (or at least minimise) any delays brought on by Brexit too.
As a Made in Britain member, we are licenced to use the official collective mark, and united by the Made in Britain code of conduct and core principals. Made in Britain members span a wide spectrum of industries including agriculture, electronics, food and drink, office supplies, security, vehicle parts and more, so you are sure to find UK manufactured products to suit any project.
We believe that there has never been a more important time to SUPPORT LOCAL and luckily for us, there are some great Glasgow businesses included in the Made in Britain network, including Henry Winning, a family-owned twine manufacturer, established over 140 years ago. We’ll be using their Christmas twine to wrap our presents this year!
You can find fire-rated letterboxes by The Safety Letterbox Co., or Wiring Looms, Cable Forms & Cable Harnesses by A.T. Leads & Looms, Copper piping by Wednesbury Copper Tube and 1000’s of other building and construction-related products.
